Truce Films has expanded its roster of directors with the signing of Josh Dawson for representation across Australia and the APAC region.
Michael Ciccone, Head of Production, says, “We feel very privileged to add a director of Josh’s calibre to the roster. Not only is he genuinely one of the nicest individuals you will ever meet, but he is an exceptional talent, a curious thinker, and someone who will challenge us to move to the next level as a production company”.
Truce and its newest director recently collaborated on Ryobi’s ‘Done & Dusted’ campaign via Fenton Stephens, a production that leant on a number of Dawson’s talents including 3D character animation, puppetry and motion control camera technology.
Says Ciccone, “Josh has a knack for bringing the surreal to life through a very humanised lens. His strength for conveying heart and motion in his storytelling certainly appealed to us and I think will resonate with agencies and clients. We can’t wait to see what magic we can create together.”
Dawson spent portions of his career based in Germany and at times was represented by the likes of RadicalMedia, Henry and Lovestone. During which, he was fortunate to work on a number of acclaimed projects including his film for Equality which was awarded 2nd Prize at the Young Directors Award’s in Cannes, and his campaign for ACV attracting 4 million views over 3 months.
Says Dawson, “I’ve been with a plethora of production companies over the last ten years – from very small to huge. Something I've learnt is that it isn't the company itself that counts, it's the people – and Truce has amazing people. They're relatable, understanding, and super professional. Since joining, I’ve come into the office and instantly felt comfortable; there aren't any egos and we're all in it with the same goal: make awesome work.”
